Sheet Metal Worker II

Job Description

Position Summary

Working with the Sheet Metal Lead the Sheet Metal Worker II sets up and operates machine tools and fits and assembles parts to make or repairs metal parts, mechanisms, tools or machines.  Determines dimensions and tolerance of piece to be fabricated, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprint, sketches.  Plans and executes assignments using machine tools ranging  from shear, break, punch, notcher, and plasma punch.

Essential Job Duties

  • Read work plans and specifications to lay out, measure and mark the sheet metal
  • Operate various types of equipment computerized equipment, hand and power tools and light metal working machines - to cut, bend, punch, shape or form the metal in other ways
  • Operate a variety of machines within the department
  • Fit, join and fasten the sheet metal parts to construct the final producst or installation pieces
  • Finish products and check that they meet quality, safety and other standards and specifications
  • Repair and maintain sheet metal work
  • Scan all job orders through the Made2Manage (M2M) system

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Production Clerk II

Job Description

Position Summary

The Production Clerk II works under the close supervision of the Fabrication Manager to perform clerical duties including point of first contact for M2M job orders, training for production planning office maintaining logs, typing, filing, entering data, completing forms and delivering documents.

Essential Job Duties

  • Log drawings as received; review drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM) for missing or conflicting information
  • Enter standard routings into the M2Manage (M2M) system
  • Consult with supervisors and leads as needed for operation times and sequences
  • Compare component part drawings with assembly drawings and follow up with Production or Engineering for any discrepancies
  • Deliver drawings to appropriate location and pull obsolete drawings off the floor
  • Release and distribute travelers that start with weldments, assemblies, saw or machine shop operations to appropriate supervisor or to Quality for review; distribute all other travelers to the floor
  • Run daily labor reports including the Backlog, Labor, Job reports, and any others as needed
  • Research  information on Job Orders as required
  • Complete Quality documents as required
  • Work closely with Engineering to resolve problems with blueprints, sales, and shop floor when information needs clarification
  • Prepare and release stock travelers to appropriate supervisors including replenish, outside process and internal use
  • Log stock item drawings in computer
  • Release job pick list and stock item drawings to Stock Room
  • Provide Purchasing with the pick list job numbers release to the Stock Room
  • Prepare designated reports as needed
  • Maintain the Priority List for changes with equipment and schedule
  • File change orders and BOM's
  • Assist raw materials inventory management

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum three years experience in manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of basic shop functions and blueprints preferred
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Bilingual in Spanish a preferred

  • Record all information in M2M system

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years inventory or shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing enviornment preferred
  • Proficient in using a computer, Word and Excel; knowledge of M2M software a plus
  • Basic math skills including fractions and decimals required

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the CNC Operator sets up and operates computer numerical controlled (CNC) machinery that automatically mills, punches, drills, broaches or reams metal and or plastic parts.   • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations

  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces

  • Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision

  • Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools

  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments

  • May set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators

  • Scans all job orders through the Made2Manage (M2M) system

  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, calipers and other measuring devices

  • Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree, completion of technical trade school or equivalent education and training preferred
  • Five years machine shop experience that includes knowledge of “G” code or a combination of four years of work experience in the trade is desirable
  • Trade certification for CNC machinist is a plus
  • Ability to use measuring devices to verify that work meets blueprint specifications
  • Basic shop math skills and ability to communicate clearly
  • Possess effective organization and time management skills, be detail oriented, use good judgment, and manage competing priorities for multiple projects and consistently meet all deadlines 
  • Able to lift 20-50 pounds.

Working under the direction of the Welding Lead, the Welder II completes projects with little or no supervision and performs a variety of welding processes using electric resistance, oxyacetylene or plasma-arc torches.  Welds commonly used metals and alloys of various shapes, sizes, and thickness.  Selects welding electrodes for specific welds to ensure penetrations and fusion of base and filler metals. Welds in vertical, horizontal and overhead positions.  Welders may specialize in certain types of welding, such as custom fabrication welding, structural construction welding or production welding.

Essential Job Duties

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings for larger and complicated jobs or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as TIG and MIG. Emphasis is on TIG
  • Knowledge and experience to determine when materials may bend and how to prevent this from happening
  • Use electric/air tools and power tools as required
