Engineering Manager

Job Description

Position Summary and Job Duties

The Engineering Manager supervises and oversees the day-to-day operation of both the Electrical Engineering and the Mechanical Engineering departments while maintaining schedules and resolving problems.

• Manages technical staff of Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Department
• Manages workload to ensure schedules by developing and maintaining job priorities
• Communicate with upstream and downstream stakeholders to ensure working to latest priorities
• Maintain engineering quality by introducing or improving quality methods
• Works with leadership to develop and establish performance expectations
• Works with leadership to solve large-scale technical issues for both the customer and Casa Herrera infrastructure
• Lead a diverse workforce through positive leadership methods
• Conduct performance reviews and provide positive and constructive feedback
• Determine training and development plans to promote individual growth
• Work with Human Resources to ensure a safe working environment and regulatory compliance
• Make hiring and terminating decisions while conforming to company policies and procedures
• Develop and update the departmental work instructions
• Report on engineering capacity/ availability
• Develop department processes to improve efficiency
• Develop or improve standardized configuration methodology.
• Develop and maintain an environment that fosters teamwork and working together.
• Spanish speaking a plus

Other Duties

  •  Implement a Continuous Improvement Environment with appropriate metrics
  •  Implement a Design for Manufacture (DFM) program, or similar, to minimize manufacturing costs.
  •  Work with leadership (President, VP, and Director) on Technology Roadmap
  •  Work with leadership on product strategy and positioning
  •  Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of Engineering Computing (such as mechanical or electrical CAD, PLM, etc.) solutions for effective execution engineering deliverables
  •  Perform other related duties as assigned

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  •     Graduation from an accredited college or university wih a Bachelor's degree in Engineering,Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.

  • Food machinery manufacturing experience preferred

  •  Prefer a California Licensed Electrical or Mechanical Professional Engineer
  •  Minimum seven (7) years of experience as an Electrical or Mechanical Designer
  •  Minimum of 1-year experience as a manager to engineers and drafters.
  •  Comfortable with investigating industry specifications such as UL, NSF, ASME, ANSI, etc.
  •  Formal configuration management experience, document control management and processes required
  •  Proficient in one or more of the following software solutions: Solid Edge, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Made2Manage (M2M), or EPLAN
  •  Proficient using Word, Excel, and Outlook
  •  Must be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing (including sketches)
  •  Must be proficient in blueprint reading
  • Food machinery manufacturing preferred
  •  Self-motivated team player with the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  •  Ability to adhere to ethical principles that reflect the highest standards of organizational and individual behavior and comply with all laws and regulations
  •  Possess effective organization and time management skills, be detail oriented, use good judgment, manage competing priorities for multiple projects, and consistently meet deadlines
  •  Ability to work collaboratively with others and foster cooperative relationships and credibility at all levels of the organization
  •  Experience in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming is a plus
  •  Experience with Customer Satisfaction improvement methods is highly recommended
  •  Direct customer experience is beneficial

Field Service Technician

Location: Pomona, Ca

Job Description

Position Summary

The Field Service Technician works under the general supervision of the Director of Technical Services to troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical machine malfunctions at the customer’s location involving travel to either domestic and/or international locations.  Oversees the installation of new equipment and is involved in testing same before shipping.  Technicians are involved in coordinating the installation of the new equipment.

                                                                                         

Essential Job Duties

  • Identify and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions including insuring the wiring is correct to schematics, program inverters, and program temperature controllers
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components in the conveyor belts, blowers, drives, precision rollers, and the oven and fryer combustion systems
  • Test equipment operation to customer specifications
  • Provide operational and maintenance training for customers
  • Remove and replace mechanical components, adjust and align machinery such as rollers, bearings and sprockets

 

 

Other Duties

  • Complete documentation for billing and expenses applicable for each job
  • Operate forklift, electronic pallet jack, and scissor lift to move equipment and machines
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or minimum two years technical experience or proof of completion of an industrial technical school or other related acceptable training program or military training program
  • Two years mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience preferably in manufacturing
  • Knowledge of natural gas combustion systems, hydraulics and pneumatics required
  • PLC programming experience a plus
  • Welding, machine shop skills, mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills preferred
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Provide and use own hand tools
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Ability to adhere to ethical principles that reflect the highest standards of organizational and individual behavior and comply with all laws and regulations
  • Possess effective organization and time management skills, be detail oriented, use good judgment, and manage competing priorities for multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines
  • Domestic and international travel up to 75%
  • Valid California driver license required and acceptable driver record

CNC Programmer

Location: 1st Shift

Job Description

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor the CNC Programmer programs computer numerical controlled (CNC) machinery using Mastercam for both mill and lathes.  Coordinates with the shop floor to ensure program performance and quality. Make general decisions as to quality, tolerances and operation sequence. 

Essential Job Duties

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan the best process for machining
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances from conventional blueprints and CAD drawings using Mastercam
  • Write programs for a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to produce precision parts
  • Ensure dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications by verifying with the machine operator
  • Provide set-up drawings and tool lists for machine tool operators

Other Duties

  • Coordinate with Engineering and shop floor to create optimum machine utilization
  •  Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor
  • Maintain detailed records of all programs along with complete documentation
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five years machine shop experience that includes machine programming
  • A combination of four years of work experience in the trade and some college or industry courses in machining is usually required to be eligible for trade certification
  • Trade certification for CNC programming in Mastercam is desirable
  • Proficient in Mastercam programming
  • Possess effective organization and time management skills, be detail oriented, use good judgment, and manage competing priorities for multiple projects and consistently meet all deadlines

CNC Machinist

Location: 1st. Shift

Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the CNC Operator sets up and operates computer numerical controlled (CNC) machinery that automatically mills, punches, drills, broaches or reams metal and or plastic parts. Make adjustments to adhere to established specifications. Monitors work to ensure that machine is not malfunctioning. Make general decisions as to quality, tolerances and operation sequence.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables or study sample parts to determine machining operation to be performed, and plan best sequence of operations

  • Compute dimensions and tolerances and measure and lay out work pieces

  • Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision

  • Fit and assemble machined metal parts and subassemblies using hand and power tools

  • Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments

  • May set up and program machine tools for use by machining tool operators

  • Scans all job orders through the Made2Manage (M2M) system

  • Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, calipers and other measuring devices

  • Report deviations from specifications and tolerances to supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree, completion of technical trade school or equivalent education and training preferred
  • Five years machine shop experience that includes knowledge of “G” code or a combination of four years of work experience in the trade is desirable
  • Trade certification for CNC machinist is a plus
  • Ability to use measuring devices to verify that work meets blueprint specifications
  • Basic shop math skills and ability to communicate clearly
  • Possess effective organization and time management skills, be detail oriented, use good judgment, and manage competing priorities for multiple projects and consistently meet all deadlines
     
    Able to lift 20-50 pounds.
